The phased approach to AIP conversion
is not a fixed process and should be designed to best suit the needs of
the client. The following phase outlines act as a starting point for discussion.
It should be kept in mind that each phase is not carried out sequentially
- certain phases can run in parallel.
Phase 1
The first logical stage to updating
a states AIP is to take the existing AIP text content and re-structure
it to the 3-part layout. This phase does not require the geographic data
to be re-surveyed or charts re-drawn.
Phase 2
Geodetic conversion to WGS84 using
mathematical processes and re-surveying where required, forms the bulk
of Phase 2 and will take the greatest amount of time. The time to complete
this phase is dependent on the quality and source of current survey data
and the number of airports that require re-survey.
Phase 3
After validation, the new data is loaded
into the AIS database. Once this is in place, charts can be re-built and
chart data linked to the database. Database data is also linked to the
AIP document during this phase. This standard feature of FrameAPS ensures
the integrity of critical AIP data.
Phase 4
Detailed training in the new systems
and processes is provided in the final phase. This will ensure that all
knowledge is in place for efficient maintenance of the AIP amendment cycle.
